We had spring to summer for awhile and now that it is April we are having winter. It snowed a couple of inches here yesterday and was melted before nightfall. Its been kind of a nice break from digging up weeds and grass in the garden. I have finished a couple Acrylic paintings on slabs of a rock called chicken tracks. At least, that is what my father called it. Every rock hound seems to have a different name for the same rock. It is a porous rock making it difficult to paint on. The rock has upraised forms on top of it that look like the toes of a chicken but they are lost when the rock is cut into slabs. The two pictured have antelope on them. We do seem to have a few antelope stay around thru the winter but the larger herds should be here now and I can hardly wait to go out with my camera to try for some good shots for painting. Speaking of chicken tracks, I'm posting a photo of some of our chickens. It is so hard to get a good photo of them. They are so busy being little rototillers and eating bugs that I have to make all kinds of silly noises to get them to look up. So, this photo is as good as it gets for now. A photo of Orion was taken yesterday late afternoon after the snow melted. He is such a sweet guy. We used to have lots of lamas but since we have retired we are down to just three. Pictured also is two older rock slabs with Native American pottery and a mare and colt portrait. Note: the mare and colt are painted on Halite which is used for making jewelry as well as the other rock slabs but it is interesting that is often dyed to imitate turquoise.

My next project is going to be a regular painting either in acrylic or oil and going thru photos to make a decision is difficult. A full size painting for me is a challenge. I think my last painting was in 1996. Doll making is still on hold but they keep picking away at me. My polymer clay is vacuum sealed so it will stay good awhile.

Note: both rocks with antelope and are approximately 4"x 6" Mare and colt on Halite is 4"x5"
The Pottery is painted on Rhyolite (picture rock) approximately 4"x5" painted 1983
Not very much but better than nothing. Now that our apricot trees are bloomed out it has froze twice which usually happens every year anyway. This last week I have still been enjoying my Prismacolor pencils. I ordered Prismacolor verithin color pencils for details and Prismacolor stix for coloring in backgrounds. Hopefully some of the artworks will be nice enough to matt and frame which I really hate getting into. Most of the inexpensive frames are plastic or some kind of foam and the ready made matts don't come in enough variety of colors. Back to Dick Blick, they do provide the right stuff but getting all the goodies to do it right is expensive so it will have to wait awhile. If I would just quit buying art supplies I could save. Ha! Mean while there is enough to do. With the days getting warmer there is all that grass and weeds taking over. Then there is the garden which I plan on doing very little but maintaining what is doing well and that's to much. I'm posting some more photos of color pencil work and more older painting on gemstone. Hope your next week is great!
I'm trying very hard to stay away from the new seed catalogs. They have sent another set just to torture me. I think I will be spending enough time just keeping everything wet. If the well doesn't go dry. For right now the apricot trees are blooming and new green leaves are beginning to get thicker as each day goes by.

My clay is still waiting to be manipulated into dolls but colored pencils will not leave me alone. The days are not long enough. I sit down to do some sketching and look up at the clock and 4 hours have gone by. I will post some artwork using Prisma color pencils. The tan paper is Kona Classic, acid free and recycled it takes the color pencils very well. I have really enjoyed it. My daughter told me about it so I made another order to Dick Blick for different sizes as well as some more color pencils. A couple of the colored pencil studies will need more work but thought I would post them anyway. I do like the challenge as well as watercolors. I am also hoping that the flat work will help with my sculptures. I will soon find out.

One of the photos enclosed is of my friend Betsy's horse. She and her family have many horses, goats, cattle and now and then a pig or two or three or four. The ranch is huge and beautiful. The photo was from a second batch. The light was not right the first day and I went back a month or so later and took several photos with better light. ( Good light is everything). Her little horse has gypsy bloodlines mixed with Shetland and whatever else, I don't know but she is pretty and a sweetie. This is just a head shot painted in acrylics on mahogany obsidian and coated 2 times with envirotex.

Wow! a big fat droopy fly just went by in front of my face. Now I suppose that means early summer! Ha! Well until next time Best Wishes!
So no, I am not dead yet. I've spent a great amount of time away from any artwork, well, for thing I spent all my time gardening and keeping everything wet. Then there was the canning and dehydrating. As November approached I started going thru my old art books and supplies. Books that I love like; Robert Bateman, Guy Coheleach, Maynard Reece, Charlie Russell, Fredrick Remington, James Gurney, James Christensen, John Howe and Scott Gustafson. The list goes on; Arthur Rackham, Richard Doyle, Warwick Goble and more. The top of the list of fantasy is Brian, Wendy and Toby Froud. I have always loved their work and
I will never be able to express the experience of the doll making class I took in 2008 and was fortunate to meet the Froud family and get all my books a signed and some for my daughter. The essence of fairies and creatures spreads all about them like your favorite perfume. There is no way to describe it. The feeling still clings to me like; yes there really is fairies slipping in and about in a far sideway glance or just right in front of you, making you take another look.

So, then it was on to my supplies; watercolor, pastels, acrylics, oils, brushes, pens, pencils and then the assortment of papers, frames, matts. Wow! its been almost 10 years since I touched them!. Where have I been? Answer: Finally got the chance to work on OOAK art dolls which I will return to soon.

Its been a big job but with money I earned in the past from painting rock slabs and commissions, the big job of sorting and renewing supplies is almost done. My new found old inspirations have returned and I can't make my brain rest with all the new ideas I want to express.

Posted are a few photos of new fun things expressed on paper and gemstone slabs. Hope you will enjoy. Thanks!

Little Mo is 8 1/2" tall with faux fur 10". Dressed in recycled tangerine leather coat wearing matching boots. She is a little mixed up Mouse creature. She thinks her hypnotic eyes are her best feature outside of her tail. Polymer clay mix for hands, feet and head.

Small Chip 5 1/2 " tall wearing new red pigskin leather with matching boots. Check out his little spear. Its always fun to find the small trinkets, especially when you get to dig thru your tiny treasures and match it up with a doll or little creature. Polymer clay head, hands and feet. His little hat is a small piece of fuzzy felt cut and sewn to fit his head. Add a little feather and bead and he becomes quite dashing!
Pea Green faux fur used for hair etc. Could not wait to use the fur, bought it a month ago and wanted to wear it myself. My grandkids would like that. Covering his shoulders is a piece of leather I dyed some time ago, wish I could remember how I did it. A watermelon seed is a button, not really its just decoration. I don't ever want to make warts in this excess again, ever! but I probably will. I was going to put a worm mushed on his club but decided it would be overkill. The club was fun to, just little toothpick tips into the clay and painted with liquid polymer to make them stay put. He is so happy to be finished now he can go out clubbing and have dinner with Snog. (Snog is in older posts)
She is wearing chocolate silk with vintage multi colored velour. Silver butterflies adorn her back and front, each with small Swarovski crystals. Her crown and necklace is also Swarovski crystals. She is also wearing vintage slips under her dress. Her boots are black PS leather. Her hair is Tibetan lamb-a nice change to try.
All four dolls have a wire armature with natural cotton batting making the bodies. Covering the small creatures bodies is fleece. Note: if you buy fleece get the less expensive type. After it is sewn you can brush is up a bit which covers most of the sewing. It seems a little more stretchy too. The Elvin Queen has my polymer mix baked hands, boot forms, head and bust. I used acrylic paint and or Genius paints on all creations.
I hope you enjoy looking at my new creations as much as I did making them.
Well lucky me its time to fix dinner and wash dishes. Can hardly wait! See you next time?
We really needed the rain but lots of snow would help more. I've just finished 4 dolls and taken 3 sets of photos but just can't get the light right so they went in trash. Posted will be a photo which was intended to up awhile back. Its always interesting to see what I've ended up with, most times not at all that was in my head to begin with. Well, Grog the worm killer came pretty close. Enjoyed a visit with my kids and their kids in Redding. Hoping to see my closest granddaughter tomorrow. We have a puzzle for her which sounds fun; Glow in the dark panda bears. I hope it easier than mine, not sure if I want to even finish it. Winter does not get any easier, I just keep the shades down in my studio and pretend its green out there. (Dum-I know). Tomorrow I'll make myself take a walk and hope the neighbors dog doesn't come after me. The good news is the chickens have started laying a few more eggs. Made an Angel food cake and a chiffon cake and a blueberry cake and the bad news is just two of us ate it all. Not in one day, about a week and a half. (Ha, ha, it was so good.) I need a really long walk and if the sky is blue I'm going to get a tarp, lay on it and stare up at it, after I walk, that is. Can't make up my mind about what the next project will be. Pretty birds and elves are very appealing, so some sketches will be first. Best Wishes and Spring is coming, I hope!
I finished the Devil and photo is posted. Really wanted to make a Santa Claus before Christmas but he can be made later. Finished a little Granny doll and a silly Persian cat to go with her plus a cake. The cake was fun. I've not made frosting before but the Liquid polymer mixed with clay and a little color clay worked well. Just mix with your finger. I definitely have to make a fiber felted cat next time, it would be much easier and more realistic than gluing fiber on. I need practice on the little creatures but something interesting was the difference between the Persian skull and average cat skull. The anatomy helped a lot , thanks to Google images for some good copies to keep in my files. No matter how old you are you keep on learning-hopefully that stays true for me for a long time.

Posted the progress on another new doll which is going to be an Elf. What else is new? I really need to make a new challenge for myself. Its really easy to keep doing similar dolls but the changes in heads and poses is always fun. There are a lot of things in my head but can't decide which one to do first. Maybe an Elf eating dragon. Ha! We shall see. Well its time to feed the dog, cats, goats and llamas, my husband and self. I wish we didn't have to eat sometimes. You could save a lot of money and time. Oh well. Best Wishes Everyone!
Weather is so much nicer, plus they have citrus trees which almost all the fruit froze except for tangerines and lemons. Myer lemons is a favorite so I brought a few home and froze the juice. Yum! Lemon Bars coming soon! Oh, and my computer is fixed now. Then I had to come home to snow, ice and cold, cold, cold and more cold.
New photos of Elvin and Princess doll are posted plus photos of a not quite done little old devil.
Yes its Christmas time and I make a devil. Oh well at least he is wearing red. So much for this post I'm going to make a spiced rum hot toddy for my husband and I and watch probably something stupid on Netflix. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!
I feel like I'm behind all the time. My husband says; you don't need a schedule you are retired just rest. Well I just can't seem to do that except when I'm not feeling well. Lets look at this way, I'm now 66 and feeling lucky to have lived this long and at this age you don't know really how long you've got. So-o-o-o-! I want to do all I can get done while I still can. Okay enough of that. I'm posting a couple of photos showing the progress on the two dolls. The little elf is done and the larger doll is in progress. I will be putting her hair up but first her hair will need some trimming, wash, conditioner and put in rollers. Which means lots of little tooth picks. It seems odd to do it at this stage when her dress is almost done but it tells me what style the hair should be. Her body will be covered with saran wrap and tape so nothing but the hair will get wet. She will get a crown when her hair is done. Then the base will be painted. She has boots too, Ha! under a lace dress. that's so she can jump on her horse after the photo shoot and race into the wild yonder! No, they are not western just white boots with a touch of pale blue. A prince might like them. Hmm-m-m. The little elf is about to enter the Elvin court for the first time, she believes she is dressed appropriately she will soon know, suspense has been building for several days now. We may let you know or not. Well, its getting dark and the chickens are probably on the roost so I better lock them in and start dinner. Its just to bad I can't snap my fingers and dinner would be on the table. Hopefully, this last doll will be finished before Christmas so I can soon get into the clay again. I never know how to end these little blogs so here -EAT COOKIES!!!!!!
Sometimes I wonder if this is such a good thing because it is in my head all the time. Especially when I'm doing dishes, cooking, cleaning, etc, etc. I'm really sick of cooking and doing the dishes but unfortunately I like to eat. I will have to admit that I don't clean that often anymore only when I know someone is coming. So what! This is supposed to be retirement. Ha! I don't know how we had time to hold down a job. Retirement only means you now have time to clean up all the mess that built up which we couldn't get to during the time you have a job. Well, I've always had doll making, painting, drawing ideas in my head. I just have to get all those ideas on paper. Which I'm really trying very hard to do. Unfortunately now I need to gather up all those papers and various notebooks and take time to put it all in just one. One good thing right now is I am enjoying a cup of hot tea and a couple or more pieces of a chocolate bar. Yum! One of my head ideas the last two weeks was to make a smiling blue eyed and probably a princess doll. I just finished baking her head and a little brown elf head about 3 days ago. Today I cut up a bunch of cotton batting strips and formed their bodies. I use super glue to dot here and there as needed to help keep the layers in place. Then I will use some solid colored fleece for their bodies or some flesh colored tight woven knit fabric. Getting the bases and tubes for legs, feet and shoes is always nice to get done so the doll stands for you like a little dress form. For me it makes it easier to move them around to measure and hold various fabrics to see what I like best. I've actually got ahead of myself and did the body in batting first and now this week I will be working on hands, arms, feet, legs, shoes. That is unless my husband decides we need to get more fire wood. Oh well I love the forest. I will just get more dolls and ideas in my head for later. Wow, its getting dark I need to gather the eggs and lock up the chickens. (After I finish the tea and chocolate!)
I really needed to be outside this summer and that's just what I did. We planted a big garden. We don't have a rototiller so the shovel gave me a great workout. Summer is very short here and I have always felt like we lived like squirrels. We start out on a run getting the ground ready, planting and then a harvest (hopefully with no freezing) and last; canning, freezing and drying. We also need wood to burn and this year so we are going to the forest (all of about 5 miles) to cut our own wood. Then there's always the property maintenance which is never ending. My 2 goats helped out a lot with weeds until the trees started tasting better, so they had to go back to their pen and only out when tied on a long rope. I have enjoyed every minute of it, well except for the aches and pains. Winter is coming, it is beautiful but with mostly dark cloudy days most of the time it is depressing. I have to work really work at not becoming depressed which will happen no matter what I do so this year as my lovely daughter suggests; that I can get a light (for depression) over my work table which should help a lot. I hope so because each year is getting worse. Well enough of that. I have lots of plans for doll making this winter which should keep me really busy. After I've caught up with some canning and I don't have to water and weed etc. I will be able to sit down and focus for longer periods of time." Looking forward to it". I have been taking a class from Joey Mcphale on A for Artistic; How to Make a BJD. I have made a diagram and armature but with all that's going on I will probably not be able to make the doll until later this winter. A great class ! I will add some photos and may I can get back to blogging more often.

My latest doll, Teal fairy is finally finished. She is 11" tall, including her base. I've done my first full body sculpt, so I did a lot of study in human anatomy. Also, I have taken more of Deb Wood's anatomy classes and in depth study in my personal little library.

A great thing about Deb's classes is she offers a lot of great anatomy photos to study plus personal help through her website.
Yes, you need to be a member and the classes are offered at very reasonable prices. It saves a lot of time and money as apposed to hours researching on the Internet and printing out a lot of info you may never use. At least that's the way it is for me. Patrica Rose's website is a good source of free tutorials among others you may find on Pinterest and the of course the never ending surfing the Internet.
I need a lot more practice but the quest for always doing better is non ending which is what I love.

CHALLENGE YOURSELF!!!
Again, time has gone to fast but I finished up all but three dolls. All of these dolls have a polymer mix of Cernit, quick mix, Kato and Fimo which makes a very strong clay with a touch of flexibility which is used for their heads, hands and feet. All have a wire armature, cotton body wraps to make the form and then covered with fleece, stretch knit or a thin sock. The paint I use is acrylic and genesis heat paint. I love using pigskin leather and burning designs into it with a wood burner which I did with some of their clothes. Another technique learned in the class I took from Wendy Froud. ( I hope to take another class from her someday.) The Froud family is beyond inspirational!. I could go on forever about them! but I would have to write a book. Back to the dolls.
I looked at alot of porcupines and marmots and came up with this pair in red leather and I found a heart shaped basket and repainted it for them to put all their goodies into it for their picnic. By the way the lady is pregnant. Faux fur was used for their big fuzzy tails and hair. The male is 7 1/2" and the female is 61/2".
The Butterly Fly Elf has buffalo hair. All of his butterflies are hand made and I realize he is missing one from top of his head so I will have to make another one. His net is cheese cloth attached to a wire ring and attached to a wooden skewer. Polymer clay covered the wire where it was attached to the skewer and then painted. He is 9 1/2" including his base.

The little elf sitting is 4''. His hair and beard is white angora fiber. (mohair).
Wow, its been 2 months since I posted. It is the Holidays fault this time especially since my decision was to decorate a little this year. Now its time to take it all down and with so much snow outside I don't wish to go out to the shed to get storage tubs. Maybe I will wait until Valentines day but there may be even more snow by then. Oh well, excuses, excuses. I have been busy working on many little heads and just recently have them ready for their little clothes. They all look like they are in PJs. This is another fun part. I painted faces on all but one (Marmot husband or boyfriend) so it may show me a little more of their personality helping me to choose their costumes. Can't wait to get started but guess the dishes need to be done so we can have lunch. It would be so nice if we didn't have to eat, theres just to much work involved just to eat, and eat again and again. It would be nice to just work on dolls and nothing else. Its almost noon (skip lunch) so I better get over to my little room and get started. Happy New Year everyone!
We woke up to more snow this morning. It was really needed but I'm not one to run out and play anymore. When the kids were home it was all about sledding, snow ball fights, snowmen, snow ice cream and building a snow house. Now that we are retired I don't venture out until almost noon. Its so nice to get up, fix a cup of hot tea or coffee and just look through the windows. We have several does and older fawns here everyday. Some nice bucks too! A little two point, one large two point and yesterday a nice sized 3 point so I'm wondering what may come by the windows today.

I'm posting two dolls I finally finished. One in black and one in pink. The little princess in pink floral had her eyes repainted in acrylic paint and I am happier with the result. She is 10" with stand and has a cloth body over a wire armature. AB swarovski rhinestones make up her buttons, crown, stand and staff. "Love that sparkle!" I should have been a fish! I joined the international art doll registry some time ago and followed Deb Woods tutorial for making a crystal crown for this little doll. My 16" doll has a Gothic - vampire thing going on which is what I wanted. The egg is just to wonder about - what could hatch from it? Hmm m m m. She is wearing a crown from my own design. It has black and red Swarovski rhinestones plus there are red rhinestones on the dress. Her black top was made from recycled black velvet-(actually a tank top my daughter wore in High school-that's been along time ago-I am a true pack rat)
Getting her tiny teeny little seed bead necklace and ring on her was a pain in the... you know where. I really want more than ten fingers in my next life. How about at least seven on each hand and one or two of them has to be longer and pointy and one with a small suction cup. The black layered ruffled material was a recent purchase from JoAnn Fabrics. Fabric shops are a curse for me. My husband asks every time I come home from a two hour drive from Klamath Falls, Oregon what kind of fabric did you get this time? Head thought; I do every time for over 40 years. Answer; yes I did, just a small piece of fleece to make body covers. Head thought; hmmmm. Back to the doll. I was going to make a short skirt but ended up with a long one thus covering up all the work I did on her boots but a photo of them is posted. She has a cloth body over a wire armature. Mixed polymer clay is used for hands, chest, shoes, legs for both dolls. Both dolls have mohair from my angora goats. Well, I have started some new heads so guess I should get over to my little studio and get busy or maybe I'll have another cup of tea and look through the windows for awhile. Best Wishes to you all!
I knew I should have went out and put the hoses, shovels etc in the shed but my husband Don said he would take care of it, so that allowed me to take photos of my new witch doll. She is 16" including her base to the tip of her feathers on her hat. She wears recycled clothing from fabric and leather. She is my typical wire armature and cloth body. I really like using natural cotton batting cut into strips which I form to make the bodies of most of my dolls. Just in case someone would like to know I love buying the wood placks from Michael's in a variety of sizes. I like painting them to go along with the dolls and they are easy to drill and put the foot pegs in. I found a liquid type epoxy (magic sculpt) to fill in around the pegs which is very sturdy.
The leather apron was made from a piece of an old leather coat and was found at Good Will. It was in the worst condition and I really love it. Ha! I will have to check Good Will again soon because since winter is here for us, that means all the new donated goodies plus leather coats should be out. Her boots are made from pigs leather which works great because it it thinner making it more pliable to work with. I decorated the apron with Halloween pumpkins etc with a wood burner. Her leather patches (deer hide) were decorated with a micro felt pen. Her hands, feet and head is made from polymer clay. This is the smallest pie I've ever made! I would be much healthier if this is all I ate when I make the normal size ones. Pumpkin, apple, lemon and but not chicken feet, worms, snails and bird heads. I knew a very old woman once who put the chicken head, heart, liver, gizzard, feet etc in meat pies they were cleaned first. I don't think I would care for the crunch, though. Almost forgot the pumpkins, making these was very much fun! Polymer clay over tin foil balls and painted with acrylics. The largest being 2" and the smallest is 1"

I have another doll made but when I was photographing her I was not happy with the eyes. I painted them with Genesis heat paint so I think I will do them over with acrylics and take new photos. I'm leaving soon to go see my grand kids for a week so - Yeah! Trick or Treating!!!!!! Happy Halloween!
Ageing happens and you can't stop it. Fortunately my husband Don and I have some great kids and grand kids to be thankful for and being able to share one anothers company for all these years.

It certainly is fall here, the deer seem to stay close to our place as hunting season has begun. The four fawns have lost their spots and along with their mothers they have put on their winter coats.Trees, bushes, vines etc are starting to change and a little pole cat came to spray Biskit our dog again, I assume he or she is looking for a place to spend the winter and hopefully not under our porch.

I will post photos of the two dolls I finished up from last spring. The mad girl with black hair was actually a study in facial expression and I went ahead and finished her. A good name might be Storm or ? She is 13" including the stand. Her hair is made from mohair from one of my Angora goat does. She is wearing a cotton blouse and skirt with embroidered tiny roses and vines. Covering her blouse is a black ribbon vest and a striped red and white silky fabric makes up her skirt. Small black ribbon adorns her wrists and waist. She is also wearing black leather boots

The second doll is 12 1/2" including her stand. She is wearing vanilla floral lace and silver sequin fabric with a silver ribbon at her waist. She wears tan leather boots. Her crown is silver diamond beads. AB Swarovski crystals adorn front and back of her top as well as her boots.

My little red headed doll is awaiting a prop so her photo will be published eventually.( I started 3 other dolls so she has to wait a little longer.
A photo of one of the does and her twins will be posted. It had to be cleaned up little because I was sneaking around trying to get a good photo and this was a quick shot. With this little guy's nose I figured Snog was a good name and of course fish is his dinner. and I was welcome to join him at 10 am. At least his hands and clothes are clean and he said he would roast it over an apple wood fire. I think I will go, he said it would be cooked in our backyard by the jade rock pile and all I needed was a couple of toothpicks. Its 7:13 am now so I have time to get dressed, fix my hair, wash my face and finish baking that loaf of bread I started last night. It sounds like a very light breakfast so when the bread is done baking I'll take a large buttered piece and some pickled red apples, or maybe some garden tomatoes diced with spices or both. Yum, talk to you later?

Snog is approx: 10" with wood base. Fish is about 1 bite. He has a wire armature and cloth body. Lime green fleece covers his body. Recycled and new leather makes his boots, cuffs and hat. Buttons, feathers, and small charms decorate his outfit.POMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13245865078524711345noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6918185097944291256.post-3007932225976469122012-09-03T07:38:00.003-07:002013-12-14T22:40:21.681-08:00

Here it is September and I'm still trying to get 4 dolls done that I started before last spring. We have a new grandson (Evan Ukiah) so spending more time with my kids in Redding Ca than home this summer was sure worth my time. Its always fun to be with grand children especially in their big back yard where magic happens. Big juicy red tomatoes, yellow and green squash, and cucumbers appear overnight. We ate allot of cucumber tomato salads. I made fresh tomato sauce and we put it in the freezer while holding some back for spaghetti. Yum what a big difference. Wish we had time to make a few gallons of it. Ha! Check out the 2 photos. My little studio is a mess as it usually is especially when picking out the fabrics for the dolls. You can see our dog thou the window (barely) her name is Biskit. She guards the property keeping the coyotes out as well as the dogs that come around. Hopefully I can get the dolls done soon. We are doing major gardening outside as well and we have to hurry it is really getting cold in the mornings. Its already 7:30 am so I better get all the creatures fed and us too.POMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13245865078524711345noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6918185097944291256.post-35155023438488034552012-07-08T14:13:00.000-07:002013-12-14T22:40:21.687-08:00Baby Brother, Cookies! and Flour!

Its July 8, 2012 and I've been at the Maloney's home since June 25. Their unborn son has decided to take up permanent residence since his due date was June 26. We thought maybe he decided to come July 4. No, he decided to stay in his mother's womb constantly pushing for more room and keeping her awake 24 hours a day. Meanwhile his big sister still rules the household. Today we need cookies! The favorite in this house is Chocolate Chip Oatmeal. So the only way to accomplish this feat, is to occupy wild child, I mean Vivian, my 2 yr old granddaughter. A metal bowl with about 1/4 cup of flour and a big spatula was set on her Dora table and with that she was told to help Grandma stir. So about 2 hours and 30 min later we had cookie dough. There was flour on Vivian's face, shirt, arms, lets just say her entire body and at least 1/4 of the kitchen. Little flour foot prints on the floor were the best. Second best is when she threw up her hands after making all those designs through the flour on her Dora table and said; "Beautiful!" You see how much doll making I'm getting done? Ha! But when I do, I can sit back and think about some wonderful memories. Thanks and find great joy doing something-maybe with a little flour?POMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13245865078524711345noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6918185097944291256.post-52670843588812593852012-06-05T09:44:00.001-07:002013-12-14T22:40:21.696-08:00June Snow, Typical for Modoc and News

Its been cold with rain and snow. A little snow ball bush in full bloom was already leaning and with the morning snow its on the ground. I'm posting a couple of photos this morning so you can see what the weather is like this last week. Sometimes we will even get snow in July. Well, so much for the weather, its always a mess. Thought since I have not been able to get to my blog in some time I would update whats been going on but only briefly. There has been no time for doll making. Three dolls are waiting for their feet, stands, costuming etc but they will have to wait awhile longer. My mother went into the nursing home which has been emotionally draining in itself let alone dealing with family and about 3 weeks of paperwork and driving back and forth into town. We are now cleaning out the house. My mother was a heavy smoker so its been a full day to day job to clean. My time is also running short because I've been going to Redding to help my daughter with our granddaughter while she is pregnant with our grandson who will be here about the 29th. We are all so excited and I do enjoy going down there to help. At some point we have to have our other granddaughter up to visit because we have not seen her in awhile and greatly miss her and her mom and our son. Kids grow up to fast especially when they are grand children. Maybe I will get some time soon to post photos of the upcoming dolling but then again it may be around the middle of July. Best Wishes!POMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13245865078524711345noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6918185097944291256.post-86556774676426558852012-04-15T17:41:00.005-07:002013-12-14T22:40:21.712-08:00Beautiful Sunday

Well finally a beautiful warm day with blue skys and sunshine. All but one of the angora does has had their babies. We have a white doeling, a black doeling and 3 black bucklings. Today I sheared the last two does and have two bucks yet to do and I will be done for awhile. I take that back. I have to tag and vacinate the babies and trim a few feet and maybe soon I can get back to doll making. The weather has been awful as usual for a Modoc spring. Wind, rain, hail, snow and more wind and all that wonderful mud and cold. So today I spent time outside taking a few photos and playing with the new goat kids. Even with the cold weather I guess the chickens know its spring because they are all laying. The deer have been here almost every morning eating up the new spring grass. Wow, its still nice outside and its 6pm, so guess I better get that last to kid doe in the shed and get some dinner started. I think I would really just like to go to bed right now but have to much to do yet. Thanks, and I hope you enjoy the photos.

POMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13245865078524711345noreply@blogger.com0
