Meet the New Bunch!

One day later finally some photos of the new dolls:

Little Mo is 8 1/2" tall with faux fur 10". Dressed in recycled tangerine leather coat wearing matching boots. She is a little mixed up Mouse creature. She thinks her hypnotic eyes are her best feature outside of her tail. Polymer clay mix for hands, feet and head.
Small Chip 5 1/2 " tall wearing new red pigskin leather with matching boots. Check out his little spear. Its always fun to find the small trinkets, especially when you get to dig thru your tiny treasures and match it up with a doll or little creature. Polymer clay head, hands and feet. His little hat is a small piece of fuzzy felt cut and sewn to fit his head. Add a little feather and bead and he becomes quite dashing!
Grog the Worm Killer is 9 1/2 " tall to the top of his horns.  Pea Green faux fur used for hair etc. Could not wait to use the fur, bought it a month ago and wanted to wear it myself. My grandkids would like that. Covering his shoulders is a piece of leather I dyed some time ago, wish I could remember how I did it. A watermelon seed is a button, not really its just decoration. I don't ever want to make warts in this excess again, ever! but I probably will. I was going to put a worm mushed on his club but decided it would be overkill. The club was fun to, just little toothpick tips into the clay and painted with liquid polymer to make them stay put. He is so happy to be finished now he can go out clubbing and have dinner with Snog. (Snog is in older posts)
Elvin Queen is 11 1/2 " and on the stand 12 1/2 ". She is wearing chocolate silk with vintage multi colored velour. Silver butterflies adorn her back and front, each with small Swarovski crystals. Her crown and necklace is also Swarovski crystals. She is also wearing vintage slips under her dress. Her boots are black PS leather. Her hair is Tibetan lamb-a nice change to try.
All four dolls have a wire armature with natural cotton batting making the bodies. Covering the small creatures bodies is fleece. Note: if you buy fleece get the less expensive type. After it is sewn you can brush is up a bit which covers most of the sewing. It seems a little more stretchy too. The Elvin Queen has my polymer mix baked hands, boot forms, head and bust. I used acrylic paint and or Genius paints on all creations.
I hope you enjoy looking at my new creations as much as I did making them.
Well lucky me its time to fix dinner and wash dishes. Can hardly wait!  See you next time?

Rain, Wind, Cake and Maybe Spring will come?

Rain and wind for February here in Modoc. We really needed the rain but lots of snow would help more. I've just finished 4 dolls and taken 3 sets of photos but just can't get the light right so they went in trash. Posted will be a photo which was intended to up awhile back. Its always interesting to see what I've ended up with, most times not at all that was in my head to begin with. Well, Grog the worm killer came  pretty close. Enjoyed a visit with my kids and their kids in Redding. Hoping to see my closest granddaughter tomorrow.  We have a puzzle for her which sounds fun; Glow in the dark panda bears. I hope it easier than mine, not sure if I want to even finish it. Winter does not get any easier, I just keep the shades down in my studio and pretend its green out there. (Dum-I know). Tomorrow I'll make myself take a walk and hope the neighbors dog doesn't come after me. The good news is the chickens have started laying a few more eggs.  Made an Angel food cake and a chiffon cake and a blueberry cake and the bad news is just two of us ate it all. Not in one day, about a week and a half. (Ha, ha, it was so good.) I need a really long walk and if the sky is blue I'm going to get a tarp, lay on it and stare up at it, after I walk, that is.  Can't make up my mind about what the next project will be. Pretty birds and elves are very appealing, so some sketches will be first.  Best Wishes and Spring is coming, I hope!

The Devil and Granny

Finally, a space of time to write a little. I finished the Devil and  photo is posted. Really wanted to make a  Santa Claus before Christmas but he can be made later. Finished a little Granny doll and a silly Persian cat to go with her plus a cake. The cake was fun. I've not made frosting before but the Liquid polymer mixed with clay and a little color clay worked well. Just mix with your finger. I definitely have to make a fiber felted cat next time, it would be much easier and more realistic than gluing fiber on.  I need practice on the little creatures but something interesting was the difference between the Persian skull and average cat skull. The anatomy helped a lot , thanks to Google images for some good copies to keep in my files. No matter how old you are you keep on learning-hopefully that stays true for me for a long time.

Posted the progress on another new doll which is going to be an Elf. What else is new?  I really need to make a new challenge for myself.  Its really easy to keep doing similar dolls but the changes in heads and poses is always fun. There are a lot of things in my head but can't decide which one to do first.  Maybe an Elf eating dragon. Ha! We shall see. Well its time to feed the dog, cats, goats and llamas, my husband and self. I wish we didn't have to eat sometimes. You could save a lot of money and time. Oh well. Best Wishes Everyone!
